Sunday?
Break(!!) from MTP-first stage for many of us.
Decided on saturday midnight.
Left from Lab at 5:30 in the morning.
Took the local train from kanjur to thane.
Mumbai-pune intercity.
breakfast  in lonawala.
Bribe to local police.
Went to the place near  water-fall.
Climbed till  decent height.
Couldn't go till top due to unavailability of life-insurance agent there.
Rain and clouds while returning.
Endless wait at  lonawala station.
Back lab-bed in night. :)

Got the chance to visit rajkot.
The reason was mira's marriage.

Much awaited event was on 23rd may.
Our whole group was meeting first time after our BE days.
I met all individuals after BE,but not as group.
We all, pranav, khushbu, sagar, thakkar, charul and me took bus on sunday morning.
Decent jorney and we arrived rajkot 3 days before the actual date of marriage :)
And our hungry jorney starts for kathiyavadi food.
Got BIG gujarati thali in noon.
Got decent guest house (thanks to pranav) and went to virpur in the evening.
We had prasad from temple and panipuri in market.
came back to rajkot and ice-gola in night.
came back to guest house, and took some continental food late night.
jeera rice and daal to end food hunt of the day.

Not so long sleep for night and we got first free meal from marriage-wala in afternoon.
had 5 glass of butter-milk and some sweets :)

Evening, got the chance to hang out in market.
took (sugar)can-juice, coconut with malai, fresh mangoes, kutchhi daabeli, orange-juice and some other stuff.
Aah! stomach was crying but..

Late night dandiya, and we had bhel-puri, puff and rajkot-famous nimbu-soda.
Bus yaar! enough. D-day came in the morning.
Took some early morning breakfast of jalebi, khaman and pineapple-juice.
Went limbda-chok for return tickets and had methi-gota and chikki there.

Came back to venue and took some pics and again?
no food pls..
ab chalo free me full dish bhar ke mil raha hai to..
got some great sabji and chinese spring roll in the menu.
butter milk to end our adventure.
Well, everything finished around 2:30 PM or so..
got return ticket of 4:30..

what to do for 2 hours?
guess?
food again..
orange-sarbat, mango-lassi, ragada-puri and some other stuff.
mango-maaza and bhajiya in the break of return journey.

PS:
All food gave us free gift.
Irregular digestive system for quite a while
Not just to me but, for many of us ;)

remembering old days when indian tail was so long that just after 5th or 6th wicket,ppl expect not more than 20 runs added in board.
situation now looks quite improved.
indian tail shown some really good batting performance and not only in one match,they are doing this consistently when ever needed.
gr8 show by all bowlers of india.
both in batting and bowling

i m starting this blog with one old memory of my B.E.

i was in 7th sem. and enjoying some of the last days in my college.
each saturday we have some "extra" work to do besides academics
i was meeting some of my juniors who were in 1st/3rd semester
around 40 dainty students were interested in me.
and i have to explain them how internet/web/html/network/servers works
after some "funda" abt 20-25 mins abt all above,
i asked them to throw questions from thier minds
some questions were silly,some intelligent,some were out of my range also
for exa.
-how to change password in yahoo?
-why cybercafe dont have modem?
-why our college's website is slow?
-how google works?
-why my id is *@yahoo.com and some other's *@yahoo.co.in?
-why mobile internet aceess is limited?

i asnwered some
some bluffed..

but one question was really good..
-how yahoo earns after providing free email to us?
i told it earns through advertisement..
it sells our email id to 3rd party and so on..
then he asked its quite limited advertisement
i said "its true.."

some days ago
i came back to window after 6 month for some wireless scanning s/w
it gave me chance to see pure yahoo..
after so long time

some changes in six month
-better voice conversation
-yahoo avatar..

i went for avatar
cool..
make ur own identity
javascript at work..
lot of scripts..
and lot of options..
cloths,hair,background,skin,accessories and some others also
so questions remains same
how yahoo/any other web-based org earns?
and its one of best employer prefered..after google
huge package in IIT's campus placement..

Access Points & Antena

got some time to blog after long time
i completed end sem exam
luckily passed all the courses
and CPI of 7.84/10
not so good in IIT but i m quite happy with it
now in december,
just for our work in timbaktu,
i was measuring signal strength of Access Point and antena attached to it.
it was gr8 learning experience
i was working with real wireless devices first time
and that too, i have to configure/use/debug it.
D-link is famous brand around and we are also using same.

D-link provides web interface for configuring APs
so platform independent
that also means that it is running some web-server kind of utility
nice huh?
it also has its DHCP
and SNMP also
now u got idea ? why APs cost much?

i wud like make to write some important technical aspect of it
APs has some important attributes like:
1. IP
2. MAC
3. datarates(mbps)
4.channel
5.SSID
6.DHCP range
7.connectivity to LAN
8.default gateways and DNS
9.direction of antena
10.range (meter)
11. signal (db)
12.SNR(signal to noise ratio)

i m still finding some difficulty in associating with perticuler SSID and n/w
but its not a problem of AP/D-link
its windows' bug for roaming
but now problem is solved largely as i have centrino based laptop
the previos one was with external WiFi card
and gave lot of trouble to me in my intial work
thats guru mantra of today
its late night now
i must go to canteen for food
otherwise it will be closed also

biggest festival of india
of gujarat too..
and i m not @ home..
why?
even i dont know.. :(
IIT had taught plenty of things in pretty less time
thats why its no.3 in world

"Real" fire in KReSIT

after getting so many fac fire alarm
it was day to get real fire alarm
but before fire alarm can be heared

we had seen flames in
compaq e-commerse lab server room
in the servr room AC was under fire
and flame was spreading so fast
we predicted it will be much destructive

within a minute or two
guards ,students and all other KReSITian were around to see what happened
fortunately we got enough resource to stop fire within time
but it wasnt enough ..
electricity and all backup servers were gone for while..
lots of black smoke and plenty of creaps abt fire safety were all around..
now after 4-5 days i can see compaq lab closed temporarily from my desk
waiting for insurance ppl to come ..

and to add fun of event
it was testing day for checking fire drilling..
and that exclusive mail for u

A fire drill is planned from 1500 hrs on Thursday, 27.10.2005. the exercise shall last for about 30 minutes. All are requested to be in their respective seats and not to get panicked after hearing the hooter during the drill.

dealing with servlets

since last 3-4 days
we r working in our J2ME project
my part is of servlets
servlets seems to be simple
just read sun.java docs
paste in ur class
modify as needed
ur new functions are ready to deploy
as complexity increase u need to look for other system

i was using jakarta/eclipse combination
i stuck in some error
so now i m in netbeans
netbeans is nice but slow in linux
specially when server is running
same was the case with IBM WSAD
i had used it in windows but in linux its :(
if we can separate server from other functionality then we can figure out what is slow and why...

from today we ppl need to work with some sockets
and traffic extension of OSPF
i still need to go in depth of bind/accept calls
and multithreading in it...

we have HSS exam on monday 17th oct.
still to figure out what is syllabus of it..
it will also take some time ..
i also need to read some theory of humanality and social science..

one thing i noticed is, last week i was bit lazy in work
and now i m paying for it
because of slow work in start of week
now i have to work lot in weekends..

working in pune
headquarter in california..

talk started with pravin bhagvat CTO
ex -prof IIT-K and one of best researcher around in wireless comm. in india.
in short famous guy in wireless
nice talk embeding theory of wireless with airtight's product
they had done lot of work in products
it can be seen by its performance live

after that CEO comes in
BITS pilani graduate
all abt bussiness
some what boaring
but one must learn it because enterprenuership is the way to make money out of ur skill u learned.
first time seen such techy guy working only for bussiness

biscuits in break
and t-shirt in the end
was the best part of session...

Garba season

its navaratri time around here in mumbai
i heard we have garba within campus of IIT
i will try to visit it tomorrow
but it usually stops before mid-night :(
and crowd is also too less..

its quite different from gujarat
where we used to go in garba after 11 30
and its one of the best season for young ppl
we used to go all around city with frnds
and coming back at home in early mornings....
gr8 experiences there..

but now its mumbai and life is not so simple here
tomorrow is workshop by airtight network abt WiFi security
it would gr8 to listen them as both CEO and CTO are coming
so many things to learn
lets see what i will do...

latex seems to be not so easy
but not so hard also
there is something that i need to figure out to use *.eps file in latex in better way
resolution is poor after resizing in ps file

gnuplot can be learned within 30 mins for primary use
really nice tool for linux ppl

long way to go for makefile and so on
